There are a couple of great classic car museums in Newport County, Rhode Island. One, the Audrain car museum is located in a refurbished building on Bellevue Avenue in the heart of Newport. The other, a few miles north of Newport in Portsmouth, RI is the Newport Car Museum. The two museums are very different in style. The Audrain has cars in a showroom on the ground floor of the museum. Every few months, the exhibit changes, and different cars are brought in. The Newport Car Museum occupies a very large industrial building that was, until recently, a part of the Raytheon corporation. The cars in this museum are on permanent display. Each has its own specially designed exhibit area like a sculpture in an art museum.
